THE MIRENDA CENTER AT NEUMANN UNIVERSITY HAS ACHIEVED LEED SILVER CERTIFICATION.  MAJOR ITEMS INCORPORATED INTO THE SUSTAINABLE DESIGN INCLUDE LARGE OVERHANGS TO REDUCE SOLAR GAINS, HIGH EFFICIENCY LIGHTING SYSTEMS TO DELIVER PROPER LIGHTING AND THE USE OF LOW FLOW PLUMBING FIXTURES TO LIMIT WATER USAGE.

TEN PERCENT OF THE BUILDING MATERIALS SPECIFIED ARE EXTRACTED, PROCESSED AND MANUFACTURED REGIONALLY FROM WITHIN 500 MILES OF THE SITE, THEREBY REDUCING SHIPPING COST AND ENERGY USED FOR TRANSPORTATION. LOW OR NO VOC PAINT AND COATINGS ARE USED THROUGHOUT THE BUILDING
