In collaboration with HOK Sports, the Bob Carpenter Center evolved from a multi-phased planning process. The project team worked closely with the University Trustees and the Delaware Legislature through the programming and conceptual design phases; a process that ultimately resulted in the development of the iconic University of Delaware sports arena in Newark, Delaware.
The 5,100 seat multi-purpose arena is named in honor of its eponymous benefactor and trustee R.R.M Carpenter, Jr. Originally opened in 1992, the stadium is home to the University of Delaware Blue Hen’s men’s and women’s basketball teams, and has played host to an innumerable number of events and concerts over the last 30+ years.
